Disk Recovery

Back

One constant in the computer industry is that users tend to put their data in jeopardy. They either don't backup their data or have grossly inadequate backup procedures. Eventually, hard disks fail or Windows Registries or system files become corrupt and user data needs to be recovered.

No useful recovery facilities are supplied with Windows. You can purchase extra-cost software to aid in recovering data, such as Partition Magic, but its value is limited. If you can't boot Windows, you can't run the recovery software. Disk recovery services are available but the cost is high.

This class teaches you how to use Linux-based bootable CD-ROMs and Linux tools as disk recovery tools.

Prerequisites

You should be familiar with computers. You do not need previous experience with Linux.
